Two injured in city accident

NEW CASTLE — An East Side woman is in critical condition in a Youngstown hospital after her car struck a pole on East Washington Street.

Sandra J. Atwell, 59, of 1230 Randolph St., was reported in critical condition in St. Elizabeth Health Center where she had been flown after the accident Tuesday. Reports to 911 were that she was in and out of consciousness at the scene.

Her granddaughter, 6-year-old Lilly Atwell of the same address, was taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital. Police said she sustained minor injuries.

Police said Atwell was turning right from Court Street onto East Washington Street around 10 p.m. when she hit a light pole.

Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended five games for sucker punching Pittsburgh’s Travis Snider during a bench clearing brawl on Sunday. You OK with that suspension?

Yes. Seems fair.
No. Baseball NEVER gets it right in these situations. Should have been at least 20 games for his sucker punch into a pile of players.
Not sure, but I’d love to see baseball be like hockey and allow two guys to fight for a while before breaking it up. Let’s see how tough Maldonado is then.
