Woman accused of growing pot

NEW CASTLE — A New Castle woman was jailed after police said they found her growing 19 marijuana plants.

Police said Eileen Denise Moore, 58, of 23 E. Falls St., was charged after it was discovered she was growing marijuana on the roof of her apartment building and in pots that were found in a nearby wooded area Sunday.

According to officers, a search of Moore’s apartment also turned up drug paraphernalia.

New Castle police charged Moore with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was placed in the Lawrence County jail in lieu of $2,500 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday.
