Ellwood man hospitalized after crash

NEW CASTLE — An Ellwood City man is in fair condition in Allegheny General Hospital following a one-car accident.

Pennsylvania state police said Randy T. Johnston, 50, of Ellwood City, was eastbound on Route 488/Portersville Road in Perry Township at 3:10 a.m. Saturday when he lost control on the snow-covered road.

Officers said the car spun, struck a mailbox, skidded across a yard and over an embankment into a small creek where it came to rest on its left side.

Police were assisted by the Ellwood City and Wurtemburg-Perry volunteer fire departments to extract Johnston from the vehicle. He was taken to Ellwood City Hospital and later to the Pittsburgh facility.

He was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 fell from the sky in Donetsk, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. Many are speculating that Russian rebels (supported by Vladimir Putin) are responsible for downing the aircraft. What do you think?

Yes. All evidence points that way.
No. Everyone is so quick to point fingers, but there's not enough evidence to support claims of Russian guilt.
I'm not sure. I'll just wait until the investigation is over to make up my mind.
What is up with these Malaysian Airlines planes? I know one airline I won't be flying any time soon...
