City woman charged with stabbing man

NEW CASTLE — A New Castle woman is being held on $100,000 bail after police allege she stabbed a man.

City police filed aggravated assault and other charges against Loretta Agnas Harrity, 43, of 1 N. Greenwood Ave. as the result of an incident at her apartment late Monday morning.

Police said they had been summoned and found a man with several slashes and other cuts. The also observed broken items throughout the apartment as well as a trail of blood.

The victim told officers he was in a relationship with Harrity and they had been arguing for several days. He said that when he told her he wanted to break up, she allegedly threatened to “burn the house down.”

The man said Harrity had his phone and he went to take it from her. He said he saw her make several stabbing motions, but did not realize immediately that he had been stabbed.

Police said they removed several knives from the apartment as part of their investigation. The complaint said Harrity, who was taken to Jameson Hospital after complaining of shortness of breath, declined to be interviewed unless accompanied by an attorney.

However, the complaint said that when an officer took her to the hospital, she repeatedly stated, “He got what he deserved.”

In addition to two counts of aggravated assault, Harrity also is charged with one count each of simple assault and harassment.

Her preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled Tuesday.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 fell from the sky in Donetsk, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. Many are speculating that Russian rebels (supported by Vladimir Putin) are responsible for downing the aircraft. What do you think?

Yes. All evidence points that way.
No. Everyone is so quick to point fingers, but there's not enough evidence to support claims of Russian guilt.
I'm not sure. I'll just wait until the investigation is over to make up my mind.
What is up with these Malaysian Airlines planes? I know one airline I won't be flying any time soon...
