Woman charged with littering in state park

NEW CASTLE — A Sewickley woman is accused of littering and possessing marijuana at McConnell’s Mill State Park.

A park ranger of the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources filed a complaint yesterday against Christine A. Zarilla, 24, alleging that while patrolling he saw her toss an empty beer can on the ground.

He confronted her and found her to be in possession of several unopened cans of beer, a small amount of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe with suspected marijuana residue in the bowl, according to the officer.

She faces one count each of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, scattering rubbish on land and stream and violating rules on commonwealth property.

She will be sent a summons to appear in court.
