Police: Reports for Nov. 8

NEW CASTLE — NESHANNOCK TOWNSHIP

•Missing person. Police received a report of a 77-year-old woman who was missing from an Abby Road home Tuesday after suffering a head injury. Officers and members of the Neshannock Volunteer Fire Department began a search, and the woman was found at a nearby home by a volunteer firefighter. The woman was transported to Jameson Hospital.

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP

•Theft. Police received multiple reports of thefts Sunday from vehicles along Old Butler Road, Old Princeton Road, Muzzy Drive and Brookshire Drive . Cash, a GPS unit, wallets, credit cards, handbags, iPod, tools and other item were taken. Some of the items were found in nearby yards. Police said a 2001 white Dodge Dakota pickup truck was also stolen from a home on Old Butler Road.

•Accident. Police said Gary Yanul struck a deer on Ellwood Road near Center Church Road about 10:10 p.m. Saturday. There were no injuries, police said, but heavy damage to the vehicle.

STATE

•Burglary. Police said at least three people were involved in a burglary in the 600 block of Lake Road in Washington Township Friday afternoon. The suspects forced open a back door to a home and took a 20-gauge shotgun, a 40-inch flat-screen television and a laptop computer. They fled in a silver sedan.

•Theft. Unlocked vehicles were entered at homes along Hickory Drive, Moffat Road and Eastbrook Road in Hickory Township the morning of Oct. 31. Money, backpacks, wallets and other items were taken.

•Burglary. Thieves broke into a building along Route 18 in New Beaver Borough Oct. 31 and took four welders and a plasma cutter. Witnesses told police they left in a blue pickup truck. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (724) 598-2211.

NEW CASTLE

•Theft. A 9-mm Ruger handgun was stolen from a car parked in the 400 block of Beckford Street between midnight Sunday and 5:20 p.m. Monday.

•Assault. Terrance Renal Murphy, 21, of 124 Park Ave., is charged with simple assault, flight to avoid apprehension, defiant trespass, simple trespass, harassment and domestic violence. He allegedly tried to run away from police at Harbor Heights, where he was on a no-trespassing list. Police said he assaulted a woman by holding a pillow over her head and hitting her in the head during a domestic dispute around 8:20 a.m. Monday.

•Theft. Copper pipe was stolen from the former Nifty Fifties Restaurant at 1130 Butler Ave. Friday.

    The Lawrence County jail received a bomb threat about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday — the third since Saturday. Prison board chairman David Gettings noted the caller said the same thing as the previous two times, that he was going to “come and blow the place up.”

  • Divers fish stolen truck from river

    A stolen truck was fished out of the Mahoning River following a tip from a fisherman. North Beaver Township police and volunteer fire department, the New Castle Fire Department dive team and Brandon Rishel of the Lawrence County Dive Team were called in after a fisherman had seen a submerged vehicle Monday.

  • Man accused in rock beating

    A New Castle man is accused of beating another man with a rock in an elevator. Police have charged David Joseph Perrine, 29, with aggravated assault in connection with the incident, which occurred around 8 p.m. June 12 in an apartment building on Wallace Avenue.

  • Teen to get mental health evaluation

    A 17-year-old who threatened suicide has been taken into custody by Neshannock Township police. Officers were called at 2 p.m. June 12. The teen’s mother told officers her son had a handgun and was “really acting up.”

  • Teen arrested after demanding car keys

    A teenager who demanded a couple turn over their car to him is now in police custody. Neshannock Township police said a 17-year-old New Castle resident entered a home in Lightner Place at 4 a.m. Saturday and demanded the keys to a vehicle parked in the driveway.

  • Jail gets second bomb threat

    For the second time in four days, the Lawrence County jail received a bomb threat. New Castle fire and police departments were summoned just after noon Tuesday and stood guard while the jail was searched.

    A South Side man was arrested on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop on the city’s North Hill. Martel Lamar Webb, 19, of 199 Hamilton St. had been wanted by police on charges in a domestic assault case in May when police caught up with him.

    Crews from the North Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to a truck found in the Mahoning River Monday night.

  • police.jpg Woman charged for assaulting 1-year-old

    A New Castle woman was arrested and charged with the assault of a year-old child in Scott Township. Nicole Martin, 26, of New Castle was arraigned before District Judge David Rishel on a charge of simple assault. She was lodged in the Lawrence County jail on $1,000 bond.
