•Drug arrest. Police stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of Lawrence Village plaza after receiving a report of suspicious activity at 12:11 p.m. Oct. 15. Officers said they determined the two occupants were in the possession of drugs. Charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed against Christopher Jay Magusiak, 20, of 509 Ninth St., Ellwood City. Alexander Tyler Stillwagon, 20, of 532 Todd Ave. was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stillwagon was placed in the Lawrence County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
•Retail theft. Police charged Shelby Lyn Forkey, 20, of 148 Jane Lane, Edinburg, with retail theft after she was accused of taking merchandise valued at $29.37 from Kmart in Lawrence Village Plaza Oct. 16.
•Driving under the influence. Officers said they observed a vehicle driving erratically on East Washington Street near Willowbrook Road at 9:10 p.m. Oct. 16. The vehicle was stopped and the operator, Gary John Seybert Jr., 34, of 507 Linday St. was charged with driving under the influence and several traffic violations.

Man charged in South Side break-in
A South Side man accused of breaking into a neighbor’s vacant house is facing charges. Alex John Benkosky, 21, of 821 S. Mercer St. faces one count each of burglary, criminal trespass, flight to avoid apprehension and criminal mischief.

Man rescued at McConnell's Mill
A Struthers, Ohio, man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital on Monday afternoon after he fell at McConnell's Mill State Park. The victim, 26, was visiting the park with his cousin when he slipped and fell after taking a photo.

Police use Taser in wanted man’s arrest
New Castle police say they used a Taser to arrest an Ellwood City man who was wanted on warrants. Police on Wednesday took 21-year-old Colby James Marshall of 5213 Ellwood Road into custody when they learned he was at a New Castle pharmacy.

Police: Man facing fourth DUI rams Shenango cruiser
Two weeks after a Shenango officer was killed during an attempted traffic stop, another fleeing driver rammed another township cruiser. A Scott Township man smashed into a cruiser early Friday while allegedly fleeing police.

Police: texting led to fatal accident
Police claim a woman’s texting on a cell phone contributed to a fatal accident earlier this month in Hickory Township. Laura E. Gargiulo, 42, of 2662 State Route 956, Volant, faces homicide by vehicle and other charges in connection with the May 7 death of Daniel E. Gallatin of Scott Township.

Hillsville man dead following shooting
A Mahoning Township man involved in a weekend shooting has died. Joseph Lupo, 50, of 4812 W. Main St. in Hillsville was pronounced dead Thursday by the Mahoning County, Ohio, coroner’s office.

A woman involved in a fatal accident in Hickory Township has been charged. Laura E. Gargiulo, 42, of 2662 State Route 956, Volant, faces charges of homicide by vehicle and others in the crash that led to the death of Daniel E. Gallatin of Scott Township.

Broken jaw leads to assault charge
A Pittsburgh man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly breaking another man’s jaw in New Wilmington. Matthew Vincent Wagner, 22, was charged by New Wilmington police as the result of an incident early May 5 at the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity house on Waugh Avenue.

South Side robbery being probed
New Castle police are investigating a robbery on the South Side. A 22-year-old woman told police she had been walking in the alley between Hamilton Street and Pennsylvania Avenue around 3:30 a.m. May 8 when someone grabbed her from behind and punched her numerous times in the left side of her face.
