NEW CASTLE —
A New Castle man is facing charges he abused a dog then threatened a witness to the alleged crime.
James Adam Karenbauer, 25, of 621 Raymond St. was charged by the Lawrence County District Attorney’s office.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the office of District Judge David Rishel, officers were told that on Oct. 2, Karenbauer threw a brick and hit a dog on its shoulder. The alleged incident occurred in the 700 block of Chestnut Street.
It also was alleged that Karenbauer then chased the dog while it was limping.
A witness to the alleged incident later told Karenbauer she had contacted police about the abuse. The complaint said Karenbauer then threatened to punch the woman in the face and shoot the dog.
Karenbauer is being charged with making terroristic threats, intimidating a witness and cruelty to animals. A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for Nov. 13.
Authorities indicated another individual also would be charged in the incident.
