Man arrested for screaming in court

NEW CASTLE — A Lawrence County sheriff’s deputy arrested a West Side man who allegedly disrupted court by continuously screaming.

Jasper J. Williams III, 43, of 618 Etna St., was taken into custody by deputies guarding the central court building during a hearing around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

According to officials, Williams had been attending the proceeding and allegedly screamed obscenities in the courtroom at a family court master.

A deputy said he advised Williams to stop screaming and tried to escort him out of the building. Williams continued screaming while walking out, and the deputy asked him several times to stop, he reported.

The deputy then placed Williams under arrest but he pulled his arm away and tried to run.

The deputy reported Williams’ attorney calmed him down and he was released. He is charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, and will be sent a summons to appear in court.
