City man facing drug charges

NEW CASTLE — When police arrested a city man on a warrant last month, he had $3,045 and a knife, they said.

Now, after more investigation, Michael Patrick Roberts, 33, of 139 E. Leasure Ave. is facing drug-related charges along with a second person.

New Castle police this week charged Roberts with conspiracy for both possession with intent to manufacture heroin and possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Police had arrested Roberts, a passenger, in a traffic stop of Paul Robertson, 30, of New Castle, Aug. 29. Robertson had $680 with him, along with suspected heroin, roxycodone and Xanax. A digital scale was in the car, police said.

The car was towed and during a search of it, officers seized the scale and a purse with another digital scale. A Nike shoe box contained a sheet of paper with names, amounts of money and drugs, police reported.

Robertson, 30, was charged with drug violations and jailed Aug. 29. District Judge Jennifer L. Nicholson set his bond at $50,000. Additional drug-related charges were filed against him Thursday and an additional $15,000 bond was set.

Roberts was arrested Monday and his bond set at $15,000.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 fell from the sky in Donetsk, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. Many are speculating that Russian rebels (supported by Vladimir Putin) are responsible for downing the aircraft. What do you think?

Yes. All evidence points that way.
No. Everyone is so quick to point fingers, but there's not enough evidence to support claims of Russian guilt.
I'm not sure. I'll just wait until the investigation is over to make up my mind.
What is up with these Malaysian Airlines planes? I know one airline I won't be flying any time soon...
