NEW CASTLE —
Two East Side men are wanted in connection with the burglary of a storage shed near Taggart Stadium.
New Castle police have charged Kyle Bair and Michael Helmeci, both 19 and both of 608 Taylor St. They and another man allegedly were seen by a witness in the area carrying gasoline cans after the break-in, which occurred Dec. 1.
Their alleged accomplice, Daniel Norris, 20, of 1022 Center Church Road, Shenango Township, was charged with multiple related counts on Dec. 1 and is awaiting his preliminary hearing.
A witness had told police she had seen the three men walking in the neighborhood carrying gasoline cans around 2:15 a.m.
Police learned Norris had been driving the vehicle they were in. He told police that Helmeci and Bair were the ones who had broken into the shed in the 700 block of Monroe Street. He said he had stayed by his vehicle the entire time, adding they had returned 30 minutes later with motorcycle pipes. He told police he could not use the bolt cutters because his arm was in a cast.
Bair and Helmeci both had told police that Norris was the one who had broken into the shed.
Police impounded Norris’ vehicle and found Yamaha motorcycle exhaust pipes in the back seat. They also reported finding a glass jar containing a small amount of marijuana, a set of bolt cutters and a glass pipe in the vehicle.
Bair and Helmeci both are charged with burglary, possession of instruments of crime, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal conspiracy to commit burglary and theft.
Warrants have been issued for their arrests.
Norris was arrested Dec. 1 after the incident and his bond was set at $10,000. He has posted bail.
