Police: Reports for Oct. 3

NEW CASTLE — NESHANNOCK TOWNSHIP

•Burglary. Someone broke into a business in the 2000 block of Wilmington Road about 8:45 p.m. Sunday by forcing open a rear door. Police said nothing was taken but several items were damaged.

•Driving under the influence arrest. Police charged Harold Benedict, 58, of 147 West Branch Drive with driving under the influence. Officers said he was stopped about 1:20 a.m. Aug. 24 at the intersection of Plank Road and Decker Drive after he was spotted driving erratically. Police said Benedict was unable to complete a field sobriety test. He was taken into custody and later charged. He also was charged with a firearms violation, police said, after they recovered a .25-caliber Beretta from his vehicle that Benedict is not licensed to carry.
