NEW CASTLE —
Two men are facing charges as the result of a pair of robberies in Ellwood City.
Borough police are seeking Joseph Jared Pounds, 20, of Fombell and Michael Mario Viccari, 24, of 133 Hazel Ave., Ellwood City, as the result of an incident Dec. 8 at a parking lot on Beaver Avenue.
In addition, Pounds is charged in a robbery that occurred Dec. 7 at the intersection of Factory Avenue and 10th Street.
In the first incident, victims told police they had been giving Viccari a ride. After stopping in the parking lot, they said, they were accosted by a male with a gun who demanded money. He allegedly took $55 and a knife from one victim.
The suspect was wearing a white mask, but was identified as Pounds. The victims said Viccari had urged them not to call police and claimed he had been robbed of $20. However, the victims said they never saw Viccari turn over any money.
A short time later, they dropped Viccari off at another location and while there, they said, saw him meet the robber.
Pounds and Viccari are charged with robbery and theft. Pounds also is charged with additional counts of robbery and theft, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and carrying a firearm without a license.
In the second incident, a victim told police he had been walking along Factory Avenue when he was cut off by a vehicle with two men in it. The passenger got out and assaulted the victim, knocking him out. Police said the man suffered facial injuries.
When the victim regained consciousness, he said he was missing $500 he had taken from an ATM earlier that day. He later identified Pounds from a photo lineup provided by police.
Charges against Pounds in that case are robbery, theft and simple assault.
