Columbia Gas to replace North Beaver pipelines

NEW CASTLE — Columbia Gas has announced a new pipeline improvement project in Lawrence County.

The company said it will replace approximately 6,300 feet of pipe in North Beaver Township on: Mount Jackson, Covert and Sunnyside roads; Michigan, Bryan, Charles and Arthur streets; and Crest, Kahl and Shannon avenues.

The work is scheduled to being this month and is expected to cost $700,000, the company said. The entire project is expected to be completed in August.

Construction work will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays, with temporary lane restrictions possible during working hours. Saturday work may be possible.

According to Columbia Gas, the work will require a temporary interruption of natural gas service for 50 customers while their service is connected to the new gas main. The utility will make personal contact with customers prior to interrupting service and to schedule service restoration.

All Columbia Gas employees and contractors carry identification cards bearing their name, photograph and identification number.
