NEW CASTLE —
Local children with disabilities were treated to an annual autumn bash Saturday when they went Down on The Farm.
The event, which took place at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, was sponsored by Lawrence County 4-H clubs and Disability Options Network. It included hayrides, horse rides, music, crafts, pumpkins, food, farm animals to pet, carnival games and a bonfire, all of which were handicapped-accessible.
The evening was free to all families with a disabled family member.
The fairgrounds donated the use of its facility for the 18th annual event, while hundreds of volunteers turned out to assist.
Down on the Farm was the brainchild of Josie Badger of Pittsburgh, a former Wampum resident who suffers from muscular dystrophy.
