The New Castle Planning Commission has recommended lots be consolidated for the Cedars Restaurant/Tavern on Addis Street.
Owner Edward J. Pagley plans to construct an addition to the restaurant on the two lots to be consolidated. The property is in an R-1 residential district of the Fifth Ward.
In September, the New Castle Zoning Hearing Board of Appeals approved the extension of a non-conforming use to allow for construction of the addition.
Attorney Charles Sapienza, representing the owner on Wednesday, said the expansion will create a total of 48 seats. The restaurant now has 32 seats, he said.
He also said there are 28 parking spaces and that the restaurant has received license approval for the addition from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
The commission also recommended approval of a conditional use request for an automobile sales office at 701 Wilmington Ave., which is in a C-1 general business district of the First Ward.
The request was made by Bonnie Zingler, in care of Car Group Holdings LLC. Matthew Steel, who represented Zingler, said there would be a maximum of five vehicles at the site at any time.
The commission recommended a subdivision of land for EASX Corp. on the west side of Moravia Street, south of Furnace Street.
Plans are to sell the one lot of 0.26 acres to Luke Graziani and sell the remaining lot of 4.691 acres to the Ellwood Group.
All of the recommendations will go to city council, which will have the final say.
