NEW CASTLE —
An Edinburg firm has been awarded two contracts to demolish 19 dilapidated houses in New Castle.
City council awarded the contracts to Siegel Excavating. One is for $31,400 to demolish seven houses and the other for $50,300 to tear down the other 12 structures.
The demolition will be paid for with community development block grant funds and from code enforcement’s budget.
Council also awarded contracts for paving of a parking lot and for shelter improvements at Gaston and Cascade parks.
GB Sand of New Castle was awarded a $91,133 contract for paving the lot at the corner of East Washington and Mercer streets. That firm was the only bidder.
SRI Roofing and Sheet Metal of New Castle was awarded an $8,815 contract for replacement of roofs on three shelters in Gaston Park. The company was the lowest of seven bidders.
Heck Construction of New Castle was awarded a $16,500 contract for replacement of a shelter at Cascade Park. The firm was the lowest of nine bidders.
