Ellwood hires borough manager

NEW CASTLE — Ellwood City council has hired Bob Villella to serve as borough manager.

At last night’s meeting, Villella was approved at a salary of $60,000 per year.

Villella, 60, replaces Dom Viccari, who has held the post for more than seven years and will continue to be active in the community. Viccari said he plans to stay in the manager’s office through the middle of July, if necessary, to help Villella transition to his new role.

Previously, Villella worked 32 years for the Central Tax Bureau, working his way up in the organization to president in charge of all operations. He was chosen from nearly 20 applicants for the position.

The Center Township, Beaver County, resident said, “I’m excited for the opportunity and to work with council.” He will begin work Monday.
