NEW CASTLE —
The Neshannock Township supervisors approved a few preliminary plans for development this week.
Requests included sewer line extensions on Trail One and Club Drive for houses, a subdivision for Terrace North off Nesbit Road to create more parking at the former Fisher’s Big Wheel office building; and the R&K Partners subdivision for a side yard addition off East Maitland Lane.
The requests were approved by a 2-0 vote. Supervisor Ed Stevens was absent from the meeting.
Township solicitor Lou Perrotta was authorized to meet with developers of a housing subdivision off Mercer Road. Perrotta said another potential developer has expressed interest in taking over the project.
The supervisors also:
•Hired summer workers Jonathan Wherry and Doug Flamino for the sewer department; Nick Graziani, Joseph Cioffi, James Jolley, Rocco Fazio and Jeff Sanfilippo for the road department; Nick Nawrocki, Steven Flamino, Peter Montini and Kenny Shoup for park maintenance and Samantha DeMatteo and Marianne Piatek for the park office. The workers will be paid between $7.25 and $7.45 per hour, according to years of service.
•Contracted with CCI Wireless of Monroeville to spray for weeds and poison ivy around sewer lift stations for $135 per station, and guide rail areas for $1,810.
•Renewed a two-year fireworks contract with Pyrotecnico to provide Fourth of July fireworks at Pearson Park for $5,500 per year.
•Named The Green Team of 2748 Old Butler Road, New Castle, as the low bidder and awarded a two-year contract to cut grass on township property for $845 per year.
•Tabled a request to replace the radio tower at the fire station on Clen-Moore Boulevard.
