NEW CASTLE — Work on a $16.9 million project to improve I-376 in Neshannock, Wilmington and Pulaski townships will begin Monday.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transporation, the 5.13-mile project includes concrete pavement patching, bituminous overlay, guide rail and drainage updates, bridge preservation, slope wall repairs and other improvements from the Mitchell Road interchange to the Mercer County line.

The prime contractor is the Swank Construction Co.

Long-term lane and shoulder closures in each direction will be implemented on I-376 in work areas. These restrictions will remain in place through late November. In addition, ramp closures will occur occasionally throughout the life of the project.

PennDOT advises motorists to slow down and use caution when traveling through the area.
