Westminster to host water quality program

NEW CASTLE — Westminster College will host a public meeting on the Lawrence and Mercer Alliance for Aquatic Resources Monitoring Thursday.

The program, open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in  Room 208 of Patterson Hall.

The meeting is being organized by Dr. Helen Boylan, Westminster associate professor of chemistry and chair of environmental science; and students Lance Jubic, Tyler Umstead and Jamie Linderman.

The agenda will include updates on the water quality monitoring program, how to preserve stream quality in the region and the potential impacts shale gas drilling may have on our waters.
