Mercer County man announces candidacy

NEW CASTLE — Parke Wentling of Mercer County has announced his candidacy for state representative in the 17th District.

Wentling, 41, will seek the Republican nomination in the May primary. The seat is currently held by Rep. Michele Brooks, a Republican, who plans to run for the state Senate.

Wentling is a technology education instructor for the Wilmington Area School District.

Under a redistricting plan that takes effect next year, the 17th District will include New Wilmington borough and Wilmington Township in Lawrence County.
