Conditional use recommended for auto sales

NEW CASTLE — The New Castle Planning Commission has recommended approval of a conditional use for an automotive business on Croton Avenue.

Bassam Al-Sharif has requested the conditional use to operate an automotive sales, service and repairs business at 926 and 1002 Croton Ave. The property is in a C-1 general business district of the Third Ward.

The commission recommended that Martin P. McGonigle’s request to convert a one-family dwelling at 1312 Highland Ave. to a two–family dwelling be denied. The property is located in an R-1 low density residential district of the Second Ward.

Both recommendations go to city council, which will have the final say.
