Townships to pave roads

NEW CASTLE — Youngblood Paving Inc. was awarded a contract for this year’s road maintenance in North Beaver and Little Beaver townships.

The North Beaver Township supervisors approved the agreement at their April meeting. Youngblood was the lower of two bidders.

The Wampum company submitted two prices, $224,148 and $250,016 for the job. Those represent the cost of the entire project using two alternative types of oil which  depend upon the air temperature at the time of paving.

The plans call for sealing eight roads and paving three.

The supervisors also hired Brian Magliocca of North Beaver Township as a part-time, as-needed police patrolman. His wage was unavailable.

They also hired M&C Lawns of Wampum Road to mow the township park this summer.  M&C was the lowest of seven quotes  at $225 per mowing.
