Joint venture to manage Jameson emergency room

NEW CASTLE — Allegheny Health Network and Emergency Medicine Physicians have formed a joint venture to manage emergency departments at nine facilities.

One of them is Jameson Hospital in New Castle.

Emergency Medicine Physicians has been managing Jameson’s emergency department since July 2013.

Doug Danko, president and chief executive officer of Jameson Health System, said he does not expect the joint venture to have any negative impact on the hospital. In fact, he said, it could improve the availability of physicians to Jameson.

The joint venture, named Allegheny Health Network Emergency Medicine Management, will manage four new sites owned by the network: Allegheny General Hospital and West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, Canonsburg Hospital and St. Vincent Hospital in Erie.

It also will manage the emergency departments at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Allegheny Valley Outpatient Center in New Kensington and Highlands Hospital in Connellsville.

Dr. Dominic Bagnoli, chief executive officer of Emergency Medicine Physicians, said in a press release, “By partnering with Allegheny Health Network, we will work to create even more innovative ways to improve and transform healthcare for patients in western Pennsylvania.”
