NEW CASTLE —
A company that recently announced it would be building a facility in Shenango Township is now part of a merger.
Portersville Valve Co. of Portersville, is merging with PRD Technologies of Tallmadge, Ohio.
In making the announcement, the two firms cited expansion plans intended to improve their share of the shale gas, process and power markets.
The firms also cited the goal of better serving their existing customer base, which also includes the steel, refining, chemical, paper and coal-fired generation industries.
According to Todd Pozzuto, general manager at Portersville Valve, the companies — both involved in valve technologies and services — will continue all operations at their plants in Portersville, Tallmadge and South Point, Ohio.
Portersville Valve recently initiated the process of building a sales and service facility in Shenango Township at the site of the former Shenango Bowl-A-Way on Route 422.
“This merger provides existing and new customers with an expanded suite of products, diagnostic testing capabilities,” Pozzuto said. “The addition of PRD’s staff, principals and quality products provides expanded engineered sales capabilities across a broader customer base including the rapid growth upstream through midstream oil and gas markets.”
The general manager of Portersville Valve for more than 30 years, Pozzuto will direct service operations for the merged companies. Mike Whitton, the general manager of PRD Technologies, will lead the sales organization of the companies.
“By bringing our teams together, increasing our service offerings and sharing costs for administration, operations and sales, we have established a foundation for growth,” Whitton said. “In turn, we anticipate hiring more people in the future.”
