NEW CASTLE —
New Bedford is getting a village post office.
Jim’s Classics, at 374 State Route 208, will become the latest village post office in the western Pennsylvania district. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday will make it official.
The New Bedford Village Post Office will have operating hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. It will offer sales of stamp booklets and accept pre-paid packages. It also will carry free priority and express mail flat-rate boxes and envelopes.
The village post office is part of the U.S. Postal Service’s initiative to provide communities with expanded access to postal products. Village post offices are operated by local businesses.
The postal service said the concept was established in response to changing mailing needs as more customers demand easier, more convenient access to products and services.
