Man accused of taking on police dog
A New Galilee man allegedly fleeing police continued to run even after the K-9 police dog gave chase. The incident happened Aug. 22 when Ellwood City police responded to a fight between three men at a car wash near First Street.

Wilmington board member returns
Carol Harris is returning to the Wilmington Area School Board. Harris had served on the board from 1987 to 1995. She was approved by the members last week to fill the seat vacated with the resignation of Angel Derrick.

City Finances: Expenses exceed revenue so far this year
Expenditures for the city of New Castle slightly exceeded revenues for the first six months of this year. A midyear financial report prepared by business administrator/chief financial officer Stephanie Dean shows spending exceeded revenue by $215,167.16.
