People needed for county authorities

NEW CASTLE — Lawrence County citizens are needed to serve on a couple of county authorities.

The commissioners have announced an open seat on the Lawrence County Airport Authority. Kevin Show, who was appointed to the position about a year ago, has resigned and moved out of town.

Two terms on the Lawrence County Housing Authority, which oversees public housing, expire Dec. 31.

Charles Hardester Sr. has indicated to the commissioners that he no longer wants to serve.

LeeAnn Fulena has written a letter to the commissioners expressing her desire to be reappointed.

The commissioners are inviting anyone who wants to serve to send them a letter of intent or to appear at a commissioners’ meeting. The applicants will be subject to background checks and must provide their Social Security numbers, which will be kept confidential.

The commissioners next regular meeting will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 3. They will not meet next week because they plan to attend the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania fall meeting in Dauphin County.

The courthouse will be closed Nov. 28 and 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
