NEW CASTLE — A Union Township resident has been charged in the sexual assault of a 3-year-old girl.

Daniel Joseph Dourlain, 27, of Westgate Drive was arraigned yesterday afternoon before District Judge Jennifer L. Nicholson, who set bond at $25,000. He was placed in the Lawrence County jail.

Pennsylvania State Police said the reported victim was assaulted between 10:50 a.m. and 4:10 p.m. Oct. 1. Five days later, the child was taken to meet with investigators. A criminal complaint against Dourlain was filed yesterday.

He is charged with felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual abuse of children, sexual assault, incest and unlawful contact with a minor. Misdemeanor offenses against the Union resident include indecent assault, endangering welfare of children and corruption of minors.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

In September, Dourlain pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge. He was on house arrest at the time of the alleged assault.
