Irma E. Rowan Tryon

Irma E. Rowan Tryon, 72, of Cherriwood Road, New Bedford, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 29, 2009, at Beeghly Oaks Nursing Center of Youngstown.

Born Aug. 23, 1937, in Youngstown, she was a daughter of the late Glenn Clarke Rowan and Katherine Goff Rowan. She married Calvin C. Tryon June 12, 1971. He survives.

Irma was a retired secretary after working 25 years in the nursing offices at Forum Health System. Prior to that, she worked for Quality Tools of New Wilmington and Satec manufacturing.

Irma loved all animals and horses were her passion. She was a member of the New Bedford Presbyterian Church for 60 years, serving as the church librarian for several years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her mother, Theresa; two brothers, Kenneth Rowan of Grove City and Lawrence Rowan and his wife, Denise, of Helena, Mont.; a sister, Phyllis Jean Rowan of Torrington, Conn.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Runyan officiating. Burial will follow at Fair Oaks Cemetery.
