Hazel Mae Doster

Hazel Mae Doster, 87, of 117 Willard Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, in Haven Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 16, 1922, in New Castle, Hazel was a daughter of the late Earl Clarence and Hazel Mae Allen Brown.

She was the widow of Robert Doster.

In her early years, she worked at Shenango China and as a dental assistant in Cleveland.

While living in the Cleveland area, she attended Bible college and was a member of the Four Square Church of Euclid, Ohio.

She was a former member of the Second Baptist Church in New Castle. She was active in the church and church community, serving as a Sunday School teacher and maintaining an active prayer line with many people.

Survivors include a son, Homer L. Anderson; two sisters, Ruth (Torrance) Rankin and Vera Brown, all of New Castle; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three former husbands, Robert Doster, Lawrence Roberts and Homer Anderson; a granddaughter, Tory Anderson; and a sister, Mary Robinson.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Second Baptist Church, 537 Bell Ave. followed by an 11 a.m. service at which the Rev. Norman Hunt will officiate.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Charlotte A. Sheffield Funeral Home, 454 Chestnut St.
