John P. (Utlib) Jimm, 82, of New Castle, passed away the evening of Dec. 16, 2009, in Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born Jan. 1, 1927, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Charles and Merash Hunna Latouf Jimm.
He married Edna on June 1, 1957. She survives.
Mr. Jimm was a retired engineer for CSX Railroad.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
John was a member of St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, John Jimm and wife, Liz, of Pittsburgh, and David Jimm and wife, Adrianna, of New Castle; three daughters, Diane Cuscino and husband, Norman, of New Castle, Karen McDonough and husband, James, of Cranberry, and Mary Lynn Jimm of New Castle; a sister, Louise Zegeer and husband, David, of Lexington, Ky.; and 11 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons, Larry Jimm and Charles Jimm; four sisters, Jennie Jimm, Ann Betters, Josephine Jimm and Norma Moses; and two brothers, Joseph Jimm and George Jimm.
Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday for St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Rev. Kevin Beaton will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Castle Area Veterans Honor Guard.
