Marjorie “Margy” Harmon, 82, of Harbor Terrace Drive in Edinburg passed away the afternoon of Oct. 10, 2009, at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 9, 1927, in Kittanning, Margy was a daughter of the late Ralph and Alice Brown Mechling.
She married Elmer Harmon in 1956, and he survives.
In earlier years, she had worked for Reliable Luggage.
She enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling and dancing.
She was the former secretary-treasurer of the Penn-Ohio Country Music Association.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Russell Mechling of California; a sister, Linda Sturm of West Pittsburg; and several nieces and nephews. She also will be sadly missed by her dog, Angel.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ralph Mechling; and two sisters, Katherine Motko and Joan Bright.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ronald Mounts, pastor of the Church of God, will officiate.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
