Rev. Thomas V. Cross

The Rev. Thomas V. Cross, 91, of Cape Coral, Fla., passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007.
He was born in New Castle on Jan. 22, 1916.
He served in the Army.
After military service, he attended Bible school in Minneapolis. The Rev. Cross started a ministry in Union Township in a one-room schoolhouse. He later led that congregation in a building program that started the Assembly of God Tabernacle on Idlewild Drive where he served for approximately 35 years.
He retired to Florida and then started a new ministry in Belleview, Fla., that later became the Belleview First Assembly of God.
He moved to Cape Coral approximately 12 years ago.
He is survived by his son, Merle, and his wife, Linda, of Ocklawaha, Fla.; daughter Marian and her husband, Lawrence “Sonny” Eyerman, of Cape Coral; sister Dorothy of North Carolina; brother Henry Cross of New Castle; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Cross; three brothers; and a sister.
A service will be conducted at noon tomorrow at Belleview First Assembly of God. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Belleview. Entombment will take place at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Ocala, Fla.
