Richard C. “Dick” Strickler, 75, of Savannah Road, Shenango Township, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, in Jameson Hospital following a short illness.
Born June 9, 1932, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Charles O. and Mildred B. Erwin Strickler.
Mr. Strickler retired from Essroc Cement Co., where he was a quarry foreman.
He was a former member of the Eagles Club in New Castle.
He was a longtime member of Savannah United Methodist Church, formerly serving as a trustee. He helped with the breakfast club and was the former groundskeeper for the church.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed any activity outdoors, but he especially enjoyed his family time.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Nellie Bessell Strickler; their children and spouses, Rick and Kathy Strickler, Judy and Art Jeffcoat, Dan and Karen Strickler, Debbie and Casey Marino, and Joanne and Rob Wolthers, all of Shenango Township; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Petty and Lois Montoya of Centralia, Ill.; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles Strickler of Centralia, and Bob and Margie Strickler of Chippewa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Strickler; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main St., Wampum.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. Mark Goswick, officiating. Burial will follow in Savannah Cemetery.
