The remains of Nancy Lee Cunningham Riggins have been found recently and identified. Nancy tragically died around July 1, 1996, in Maryland.
She was born Dec. 9, 1958, in New Castle to Robert and Delia Cunningham. She was raised, educated and worked in New Castle until moving to Maryland in 1981. She had worked at the former Wilmington Road Shop ‘N Save.
She worked at the Burtonsville, Md., Giant Food Store and had a long career with Giant Foods in the region since 1981.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Amanda, age 17; her sisters and brother-in-laws, Denise and Jim Keenan of Poland, Ohio, Micki Cunningham and Martin Domenici, and Bobbi Cunningham of San Francisco; and her nephews, Sean and Devin Keenan. She is further survived by many dear friends, especially those she made when she worked at Giant Foods, who campaigned endlessly and successfully with her family to ensure justice for Nancy. The family wishes to profusely thank the officers of the Howard County Police, Lt. Chuck Jacobs and retired Capt. Greg Marshall for their professional and personal pursuit of justice in this case over the past 11 years. Additionally, they also wish to thank the Maryland state attorney’s office, which masterfully prosecuted and brought her murderer to justice.
Funeral services will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, Md.
