John R. Thomas Jr., 68, of 1019 Pollock Ave. died the morning of Nov. 20, 2007, in Jameson Hospital.
Born Dec. 5, 1938, in New Castle, he was a son of the late John R. Sr. and Antonette N. Medure Thomas.
He was married to Deirdre Gondek Dyer. She survives.
Mr. Thomas was formerly employed by Universal Rundle Corp., where he was a castor.
He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.
Mr. Thomas loved to play bocce and was a member of the Lawrence County Bocce League. He also enjoyed fishing.
He attended St. Vitus Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Toni Rupert of New Castle and Lori Hewitt of Lacey, Wash.; three sons, John Thomas III of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Daniel Thomas of New Brighton and Lou Thomas of New Castle; a stepson, Daniel Dyer of Sharon; a brother, Robert Thomas of Sharpsville; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Traci Ables.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
A blessing service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. John Petrarulo, pastor of St. Vitus Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
