New Castle News
Former New Castle resident Veronica Theresa Joan Somers Rozanski, 79, of Severna Park, Md., died Nov. 16, 2007, in Severna Park.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Camillus Church.
She was the beloved mother of Peggy of Pittsburgh, Joan of Maryland, Chester of Philadelphia, Teresa of North Carolina, Paul of California and Mark of Virginia; “Nana” or grandmother to Ryan of Pittsburgh, John and Christine of Maryland, Josh of Philadelphia, Natasha of North Carolina, and Matt, Christopher and Stefan of Philadelphia.
She transitioned peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Mom maintained strong ties to her birthplace, Philadelphia, through her friends and family, now three deceased siblings, a son and a grandson, as well as her high school alma mater, Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, which she continued to support all her life.
She found great joy and sustenance in her strong faith and frequent contact with her children and grandchildren. Mom loved to travel to visit with family and continued to travel until October 2007.
She lived in New Castle from 1949 until after her husband of 46 years, Chester Rozanski, passed on in 1996. She then made the decision to live with her daughter, Joan in Maryland, doing so for the next seven years. While there, she lived a rich and active life despite health issues. We’ll miss her loving thoughtfulness, sense of humor and spunky personality.
Arrangements are by the Barranco and Sons Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.
