Patricia Jean Keaveny

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, for Patricia Jean Keaveny of Sharon, who passed away unexpectedly at 10:26 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, with her family at her side in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 79.

Mrs. Keaveny was born on Sunday, Jan. 1, 1928, in Brookville, Pa., Jefferson County, the daughter of Donald L. “Cap” and Anna L. Haines Flynn.

She was a member of Sharon High School’s graduating class of 1946 and along with her husband chaired their class reunions.

A member of St. Joseph’s Church in Sharon, she was active with the school PTO at one time and belonged to the Women’s Guild.

She volunteered at Sharon Regional Health System in years past and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary and was the chairman of the candy stripers.

Mrs. Keaveny was known as Pat to her close friends and family, including all the good people at MCAR where she served on the board of directors for many years.

She was proud to be a 50 year voter without missing an election.

In her earlier years she was active with the Girl Scouts of America and served as the chairperson for the Girl Scout cookie campaign in Mercer County.

A homemaker, she was a member of AARP Shenango Valley Chapter 3616.

Mrs. Keaveny found her greatest joy being with her children, and grandchildren, and she also enjoyed traveling with her husband.

She was a seamstress by hobby and enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Her husband Maurice P. Keaveny, whom she married on Oct. 9, 1948, survives at the residence.

She leaves her three daughters, Ann M. Sever of Sharon, Katherine “Kathy” A. Warren and her husband, James “Tim” Warren, of the Tyrone area of Atlanta, Ga., and Monica S. Nuzzo and her husband, Craig, of Neshannock Township; four sons, Patrick J. Keaveny and his wife, Bonita, of Charleston, S.C., Mark L. Keaveny and his wife, Marie, of Trussville, Ala., John F. Keaveny, at home, and Christopher R. Keaveny and his wife, Christine, of Bristow, Va.; and 13 grandchildren, Brandan and Michael Keaveny, Shawn and Andrew Sever, Erin Miller, Daniel Warren, Anthony, Joshua, and Rachel Keaveny, Michael and Nicholas Nuzzo, and Rilley and Shea Keaveny.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law, Harry Sever.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to The Arc of Mercer County Foundation, 850 North Hermitage Road, Hermitage, Pa. 16148.
