A Westview Terrace man was in critical but stable condition Friday in a Pittsburgh hospital after he was shot twice during a disturbance Thursday night on New Castle's West Side.
Daniel Oliver, 23, was transported to UPMC Jameson Hospital, then flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. New Castle police chief Bobby Salem said Oliver suffered a gunshot wound to the head and one to his lower extremities. He underwent surgery at UPMC Presbyterian last night.
The shooting occurred shortly after 11 p.m. when a disturbance broke out at Westview Terrace among several people, then "a vehicle drove up there and shots were fired from it, we believe," Salem said.
The police are following up leads to determine the identity of the shooter and the circumstances surrounding the incident, he said.
