•Local. The positions of mayor of New Beaver Borough and Ellport Borough were omitted Saturday from the list of candidates seeking office in the Nov. 7 General Election. Robert Crawford, Republican, is the only declared candidate for New Beaver Borough. Joseph J. Cisco, incumbent, a Democrat, is the only declared candidate for Ellport Borough.

•Sports. Thomas Romano and Michael Kurtz have played in all seven games for the Westminster College football team. This information was incorrect in Friday’s edition.



•Accident. Police said an unknown vehicle was westbound on Route 422, Slippery Rock Township, about 8 p.m. on Sunday when it crossed the center line and sideswiped a 2015 Kia Optima driven by Nirav M. Patel, 34, of Bridgeville, Pennsylvania, which was eastbound on Route 422. Patel told police following impact the other driver fled the scene. No injuries were reported.  

District judges


New Castle police charged the following:

•Jeremiah David Ryhal, 22, of New Castle, aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

•Carl L. Stewart, 72, of New Castle, two counts of driving under the influence.

•Joshua Terrel Wright, 24, of New Castle, two counts of intent to possess a controlled substance and one count each of no rear lights and driving with license suspended.

•Jeffrey Robert Gray, 50, of New Castle, operating a meth lab, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, risking catastrophe, recklessly endangering another person and possessing phenylpropanolamine or precursor substance with intent to unlawful manufacture.


•Steven Glenn Ramsey, 32, of Ellwood City, charged by state police with simple assault, unauthorized use of a motor/other vehicles, harassment, criminal mischief and driving with license suspended.

Ellwood City police charged the following:

•Zachary F. Pounds, 21, of Ellwood City, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness and similar misconduct.

•David Joseph Carter, 38, of Ellwood City, public drunkenness and similar misconduct and criminal mischief.

•Taurean Tyler Potter, 32, of Ellwood City, public drunkenness and similar misconduct.


•Joseph George Samek, 24, of Enon Valley, charged by state police with aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

New Castle police charged the following people:

•Durand Damion Lawson, 25, of New Castle, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts each of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and intent to possess a controlled substance and one count each of possession of firearm prohibited, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of marijuana-small amount for personal use, simple assault and harassment.

•Michael Paul Klingensmith, 42, of New Castle, unauthorized use of a motor/other vehicles and driving while operating privileges suspended or revoked.


•Matthew W. Marburger, 18, of New Castle, charged by Neshannock Township police with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of driving at an unsafe speed, minorprohibited operating with alcohol, purchase of an alcoholic beverage by a minor and careless driving.
