The Lawrence County Medical Society Auxiliary has gone nuts again for their annual nut sale.
The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 5 in the lobby of UPMC Jameson North. Spiced pecans, sold in decorative jars make excellent, tasty gifts for the holidays. They are $8 per pint, and $5 per half pint. Also available are one-pound bags of cashews ($11), whole almonds ($9), walnuts ($9), and pecans ($12).
For pre-sale orders or to purchase nuts after the sale, contact Aleksandra Magda at (724) 699-4733, Theresa Kaul at (724) 657-8692, or Diane Marcella at (724) 658-8662.
For 45 years auxiliary members have donned aprons and gloves to sugar/spice pecans. The nuts are freshly harvested from Georgia and shipped to the door of Aleks Magda, chair of the ways and means committee. She has been spearheading the fundraiser for a decade.
“Our fundraiser has been a success due to the fresh, high quality nuts and the loyal customers who have supported the cause year after year”, she said.
Proceeds are donated to local health related charities. In particular, the Children’s Advocacy Nurse-Family Partnership of UPMC Jameson Health System. This program is staffed by registered nurses who educate and mentor vulnerable first-time mothers during pregnancy and for two years following the births of their babies.
