Class reunions set for Mohawk, Wilmington and New Castle



Mohawk High School’s class of 1984 has scheduled its 30th anniversary reunion for July 11.

Festivities will be 6 to 10 p.m. at the Bessemer Croatian Club, 601 E. Poland Ave.

All former classmates — including vo-tech graduates — are welcome to attend. The cost is $25 per person and includes a buffet dinner, limited open bar, music, slide show and fun with old friends and their guests.

Those wishing to make a reservation should make checks payable to: Mohawk Class of 1984 and mail them to: Lorree Porter-Houk, 9 12th St., Bessemer, Pa. 16112.

Information and updates also are available on the Facebook group, Mohawk Class of 1984.

Organizers have been unable to locate all former classmates, so those who have information about anyone who graduated with the class of ’84 is asked to pass this information to them or their families and friends. In addition, efforts are being made to update the class directory, so even those who cannot attend are asked to email their current home and email addresses. The Wilmington Area High School alumni banquet will be July 18.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

This year, the alumni association will honor the 50th anniversary of the class of 1964.

All graduates of the former New Wilmington High School and eligible classes of Wilmington Area High School will be contacted by representatives of their class concerning attendance and reservations.

Cost of the buffet will be $20 per person. The deadline to make payment to the class representative is July 7.

The Wilmington Area High School Alumni Association will award two $1,000 scholarships to qualified 2014 Wilmington graduates. Scholarships are awarded for those planning to attend college, nursing, technical or trade preparation schools.

Interested students should contact their high school guidance personnel.

Anyone who would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the “WAHS Alumni Scholarship Fund” may do so by sending it to: Community Foundation, Suite 301, 7 W. State St., Sharon, Pa. 16146.



Members of New Castle High School’s class of 1954 will mark their 60th anniversary with two days of get-togethers.

Classmates will be at The Confluence on East Washington Street Aug. 1 and 2.

The cost of $40 per person will cover hors d’oeuvres, drinks, soft drinks, food, dancing and entertainment for both nights.

Letters will be sent to members of the class. More information is available by calling Norma Vranjes at (724) 652-4374.



Officers representing the Mohawk Area Alumni Association met to discuss the upcoming sixth reunion.

The gathering has been set for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 2 in the Mohawk High School cafeteria.

The class of 1963 will be in charge of registration and the class of 1965 will be in charge of refreshments. The class of 1964 will be the honorees.
