Eighteen apply for New Castle superintendent post

NEW CASTLE — The New Castle Area School District has received 18 applications for superintendent.

Tom Templeton of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association told board members at their work session Monday that 22 people had expressed interest in the position, but 18 of them actually submitted applications.

Monday was the application deadline.

The board contracted with the PSBA in January to conduct a search for a new superintendent.

Board members agreed to meet in executive session April 17 to narrow the field of candidates to be interviewed. The board will conduct the interviews with the assistance of the PSBA on April 30 and May 1.

A target date set by the PSBA for filling the position is July 1.

Stanley Magusiak, who has been assistant to the superintendent, was named acting superintendent in February following the retirement of George Gabriel.

Are you concerned enough about the Heartbleed bug on the Internet to change all of your social media and website passwords?

Yes. It’s always a good idea to change passwords regularly anyway. I just have so many, I’m not sure where to start.
No. From what I’ve read, companies are still trying to figure out how to fix the flaw. The bad guys will just have access to my NEW passwords, too.
Not sure, but I blame Al Gore. He invented the Internet, right? How’s he going to get us out of this mess?
