High School Hoops: 'Canes' Brandon Domenick to play for Gannon

NEW CASTLE — New Castle High boys basketball standout Brandon Domenick has made an early college commitment.

Domenick, a 5-foot-9 senior point guard, will continue his academic and athletic career at Gannon University in Erie. The Golden Knights are a member of the NCAA Division II Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Domenick averaged 8.1 points a game last year for the Red Hurricane, while draining 56 3-pointers. He helped New Castle to a 27-1 mark and the WPIAL Class AAA championship as well.

As a sophomore, Domenick directed the ’Canes to the WPIAL semifinals and a berth in the state playoffs. They finished 20-8 that year.

Domenick enters his senior season with 65 career starts under his belt. That stretch included 28 starts each of the past two seasons.

Domenick has averaged 9.1 points, scoring 559 markers, while handing out six assists a game during his career.

Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended five games for sucker punching Pittsburgh’s Travis Snider during a bench clearing brawl on Sunday. You OK with that suspension?

Yes. Seems fair.
No. Baseball NEVER gets it right in these situations. Should have been at least 20 games for his sucker punch into a pile of players.
Not sure, but I’d love to see baseball be like hockey and allow two guys to fight for a while before breaking it up. Let’s see how tough Maldonado is then.
