New Castle classes schedule reunions

NEW CASTLE — Two New Castle High School classes are planning gatherings over the next few months.

First up is the class of 1971, which is planning a 60th birthday party for its members.

The group will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. July 5 at Gallo’s. There will be a buffet, soft drinks, music and a cash bar. The cost is $12.50 per person.

In August, the class of 1955 will have a summer picnic.

The get-together will begin at 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Carousel Building in Cascade Park.

The meal, catered by Faraone Brothers, will be served at 2 p.m.

The cost is $20 per person and the deadline to make a reservation is July 19.

Those wishing to do so should send the names of those attending and a check made payable to New Castle Class of 1955. They should be mailed to Nancy Malaniak, 204 Wild Cherry Road, New Castle, Pa. 16105. She can be reached by phone at (724) 856-3036.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
