  • Neshannock drill goes ‘without a hitch’

    A disaster drill last week showed the Neshannock school district is prepared. Dr. Mary Todora, superintendent, noted the drill — which she said “went without a hitch” — was carried out with cooperation of the township police department and school’s security guards.

    Lawrence County native Jim Smiley spent much of yesterday trying to piece together what was going on around him. Smiley, 35, a 1996 Neshannock High graduate, works as an engineering manager for Naval Sea Systems Command and was a “short walk away” from where 13 people were killed yesterday, including alleged gunman Aaron Alexis.

    Neshannock Township school board members this week discussed consequences of a New York bus trip. Board member Amy Na asked at Monday’s meeting if the issue had been resolved. Board members and administrators met in executive session following the meeting to discuss it.
