Neshannock Schools: Four students charged in bus incident

NEW CASTLE — Juvenile petitions were filed Thursday against four Neshannock Township high school students.

Lawrence County District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa said all four of them are charged with one count each of simple assault and harassment.

Lamancusa said charges were filed by Neshannock Township police following an investigation of an alleged assault of a female student and after consultation with the family of the girl.

A hearing will be scheduled, the district attorney said, and the matter will be handled in the juvenile court system.

Names of those charged were not released because they are juveniles.

Charges stem from an alleged incident in April during an overnight field trip to New York City. Between 50 and 60 Neshannock students made the trip, police said. The alleged assault occurred on the return trip to Lawrence County.

Earlier this year, Lt. John Rand of the Neshannock Township police said officers had begun an investigation after being contacted by the girl’s mother.

Dr. Mary Todora, superintendent of the Neshannock school district, said yesterday she is not aware that charges had been filed and could not comment.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 fell from the sky in Donetsk, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. Many are speculating that Russian rebels (supported by Vladimir Putin) are responsible for downing the aircraft. What do you think?

Yes. All evidence points that way.
No. Everyone is so quick to point fingers, but there's not enough evidence to support claims of Russian guilt.
I'm not sure. I'll just wait until the investigation is over to make up my mind.
What is up with these Malaysian Airlines planes? I know one airline I won't be flying any time soon...
