NEW CASTLE — The Shenango High girls volleyball team served up success in its opener last night.

The Lady Wildcats started their season with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-18 WPIAL Section 3-A victory over Neshannock on their home court.

Shenango (1-0 section, 1-0 overall) finished second to Laurel in last year’s section standings. The Lady Wildcats are hoping to contend again this season with a young roster.

“I thought they played really, really well,” Shenango first-year head coach Angela Heagy said. “We have a young varsity team; we have three starting sophomores. I thought they played very well for being such a young team.”

Yesterday, Frazier felt pretty good about scoring a run in the top of the first against the Lady Lancers.
